Rise & Renew
Alexis's platform, Rise & Renew, supports the research, rescue, and rehabilition of victims of domestic violence.
After almost losing her life to domestic violence, Alexis not only changed her path, but was determined to change the outlook for other victims.
RESEARCH:
Harvard research has shown that if a child sees violence in the home, they are 10x more likely to become abusive and 6x more likely to be with an abuser. The biggest indicator that they will break the cycle is if they're resilient. Alexis wrote the children's book, The Little Cow, to increase resiliency in children.
RESCUE:
She is working on a bill co-authored by Senator Susan Rubio that will provide education of resources to every domestic dispute call.
REHABILITATION:
Alexis passionately advocates for "turning your life around" and pursuing education. She has recently graduated from Western Governor's University with a bachelor's degree in marketing and is sharing her journey as she aims to be accepted in the Harvard Extenstion School for her master's degree in psychology.
What's Left?
Alexis needs to have on more senator agree to co-author the bill in order for it to move forward. She also needs her book, The Little Cow, to go from mock up to final publishing.
The prestigious title of Miss United States, or competing on the United States National Pageant stage will allow her to expand her reach, get the attention of legislatures, get her book published, and allow her to donate the book nationwide to build resilience in children with adverse experiences.
